The shape of the door booking

Four conditions, all of them together. The client is someone the house has looked after before. The booking is made on the same day it takes place. The session lasts one or two hours, which includes ninety minutes. The address is inside central Amsterdam. When all four hold, the whole fee is settled at the door and no deposit is asked for at any stage. That is 180 euros for an hour with one guest, 270 for ninety minutes and 360 for two hours, or 360, 540 and 720 for a couple sharing one therapist. Remove any one of the four conditions and the booking returns to the ordinary rule.

Why this one and no other

A same-day hour or two at a central address holds very little time that could not be offered to someone else, and a returning client has already shown that he opens the door when he says he will. The combination makes a deposit unnecessary. Stretch any part of it, a later date, a longer session, a second therapist, and the time held grows while the certainty does not. That is when half goes ahead. The rule is not a reward for loyalty. It is a description of the one booking where holding the hour carries almost no risk for either side.

Bookings that keep the deposit, returning client or not

Half the fee goes ahead on every one of these, whoever is booking:

• a booking made more than twenty-four hours before it starts;
• an eight hour overnight, at any start time;
• two therapists at once, at any length;
• a room at Schiphol or at an airport hotel, arranged with the journey time agreed first;
• a peak date: King's Day, Pride, the Amsterdam Dance Event, the days from Christmas to New Year, or a large conference week;
• any session of three hours or longer;
• the first booking anyone makes with the house.

A regular meets the last condition only once. The other six apply to him on every trip, exactly as they apply to a stranger.

How the door payment works

The figure is confirmed in writing in the thread before she sets out, so there is nothing to work out on the night. It is settled when she arrives, before the session begins. Euros are simplest. Cash in another major currency is accepted at a sum confirmed in the thread beforehand, and card payment at the door is possible too. Have it ready rather than looking for it once she is inside; a returning guest usually knows this, but it bears repeating for anyone who last booked with a deposit and has forgotten how the door works.

When a deposit does apply

It is half of the figure on the rate card for that booking, calculated in the thread once the hour is agreed. It goes by card, or by Revolut, Wise or crypto, to details that appear only in the confirmed thread and never on a public page. Bank transfer and PayPal are not used, and cash cannot be a deposit because a deposit is settled before she leaves home. The second half changes hands when she arrives. Cancelling, with a deposit and without one

With a deposit, the notice you give decides what is kept. More than twenty-four hours before the start, all of it comes back. Inside the final twenty-four hours, while she has not yet left, half is kept as fee already earned and half is repaid. After she has left home for your door, none of the deposit is returned. If someone else takes the hour, the deposit is returned in full, and if you can show the loss was smaller than what was kept, only the smaller sum is kept. Without a deposit, on the door booking, cancelling before she sets out costs nothing. Once she is travelling, the share of the fee her journey represents is asked for, and nothing more. A mistake regulars make

The usual one is assuming that a returning client never sends a deposit. A guest who booked twice on the day, paid at the door both times, then writes from home a week before his next trip is often surprised to be asked for half. Nothing has changed about him; the booking is simply made more than twenty-four hours ahead. The other version of the same mistake is on peak dates. A regular who always visits in late April may find his usual same-day hour lands on King's Day, which carries half ahead regardless. Check the date before assuming the door.

What to write to make it clear

If you believe your booking fits the door case, say so in the message: returning client, booking for today, one hour or two, the address in the centre. The reply either confirms that the whole fee is settled on arrival or tells you which condition is not met and what goes ahead instead. Either way you know before she sets out, and nothing is decided at the door except the handover of the figure already agreed.
